This significant sporting event, taking place in the Bulevar neighborhood, will not only conclude the Andalusian Duathlon Circuit but also crown the region's alevín champions. The official presentation was attended by Beatriz López, Sports Councilor, alongside Francisco Luque and Quico García, president and vice-president of the Cerro Puerta Impulse Tri club, respectively, with García also serving as the race director.
“"For the Jaén City Council, it is an enormous satisfaction to once again enjoy an event that we have seen born and consolidate, and which, moreover, is aimed at minors."
The councilor extended an invitation to sports enthusiasts, especially duathlon, running, and cycling fans, to attend as spectators and enjoy an "authentic regional spectacle." For his part, Francisco Luque, from the Cerro Puerta Impulse Tri club, highlighted his organization's commitment to promoting sports from an early age, noting that they are the only club in Jaén with a youth school.
Quico García, the race director, anticipated a participation of between 120 and 150 athletes, consistent with the circuit's average. He confirmed the attendance of prominent figures such as Vera Ramos, Andalusian youth duathlon champion, and local athlete Rafa Sánchez, a member of Cerro Puerta Impulse Tri. Sánchez has already achieved significant victories this season, including the Andalusian cross-country championship, the Spanish Championship by teams in the same discipline, and national and regional duathlon titles. He will be accompanied by approximately 19 teammates from his club, many of whom also have the potential to achieve outstanding results.
The competition will be structured into male and female categories, ranging from pre-benjamín (non-competitive) to youth. Participants aged 16, in the youth category, will face a course of two kilometers running, eight kilometers cycling, and a final one-kilometer run. Younger categories will complete proportional distances, with the youngest completing 125 meters running, 500 meters cycling, and 75 meters running.
Those interested in participating can still register through the Andalusian Triathlon Federation website. The cost is eight euros for federated athletes and 13 euros for non-federated ones. The sports day will begin at 9:00 AM in the Andrés de Vandelvira park in the Bulevar and is expected to conclude around 2:00 PM.
