The third vice-president of the Jaén Provincial Council and Deputy for Economy, Finance, Municipal Assistance, and Human Resources, Pilar Parra, attended the inaugural concert, held at the entrance of the Provincial Palace. These musical events, which will continue on Wednesday at the Arab Baths Cultural Center, last approximately one hour.
Each day, a dozen students from Jaén's higher and professional music conservatories are responsible for offering these recitals, showcasing local talent and setting the mood for the main competition. The initiative aims to bring classical music closer to citizens and raise the profile of the competition.
“"We are in those preparatory days where music takes to the streets and where we give prestige and renown to this great award."
Parra highlighted that these concerts are the prelude to an international piano competition scheduled from April 9 to 18. The competition will award a total of 70,000 euros in prizes, including a first prize of 20,000 euros and a gold medal. This edition has seen 165 pianists register, of whom 60 have been selected to participate, representing 17 countries and four continents.
The third vice-president emphasized that this 'spring full of music' reaffirms Jaén's position as an international benchmark in the musical field, attracting talent from around the world and enriching the cultural offerings of the province.
