The mayor of Jaén, Julio Millán, and the Councilor for Sports, Beatriz López, confirmed the increase in available bib numbers for the XXX Jaén Half Marathon. The Municipal Sports Board, organizing the event, will add 300 more spots for those interested in competing in the main distance of the race.
The mayor highlighted that the slogan ‘Jaén City of Athletics’ has become a reality, evidenced by the rapid sell-out of bibs for races promoted by the Municipal Sports Board. For her part, López stated that the goal of positioning the Jaén Half Marathon among the major popular events in Andalusia is now a reality that has reignited the city's enthusiasm for the race.
The councilor also emphasized the implemented improvements, including a renewed route, professionalized organization, and the incorporation of new features based on feedback from runners. She added that the runners' own registrations indicate they are on the right track.
The Jaén Half Marathon will feature a new single-lap circuit, unveiled on May 19th, which will be officially homologated before the race. New cash prizes have been introduced for the top three male and female overall finishers: 300 euros for first place, 200 for second, and 100 for third. Winners in the disability category will receive 300 euros.
The top three finishers in other categories of the half marathon will receive a trophy, as will the first three finishers of the 10K race, which will have an overall classification but no specific categories. Participants who complete the half marathon will receive a reserved bib for the ‘San Antón 2027’.
The Municipal Sports Board reminded the public that there are still available spots for the complementary 10K race, priced at 15 euros, with registration available on the same website.
