The initiative, which seeks to beautify municipalities and bring contemporary art closer to citizens, especially young people, will expand with these new interventions. The Deputy for Equality and Youth, María Dolores Ruiz, highlighted that the project not only beautifies but also generates attractive tourism proposals and contributes to retaining young population in the territory.
‘Street Art Plus’ also plays a crucial role in promoting the artistic talent of young people from Jaén, offering opportunities for young artists to express their creativity in the streets. Ruiz emphasized the Provincial Council's commitment to continue collaborating with local councils to expand this urban art network, recognizing the transformative and revitalizing power of culture in municipalities.
Currently, the program features over fifty graffiti murals. With the addition of the 28 new artistic proposals, a total of 83 interventions will be reached across 82 of the province's 97 municipalities. Each mural will include a QR code for the tourism promotion of each town, directing visitors to information about the local identity.
The 2026 program includes interventions in municipalities such as Canena, Arjonilla, Villatorres, Villarrodrigo, Carboneros, Cazalilla, Chiclana de Segura, Huesa, La Iruela, Lopera, Sorihuela del Guadalimar, Villanueva de la Reina, La Carolina, Pegalajar, Villardompardo, Peal de Becerro, Segura de la Sierra, Torres, Santisteban del Puerto, and Úbeda.
For 2027, another eight interventions are planned in Quesada, Cárcheles, Santo Tomé, Guarromán, Higuera de Calatrava, Lupión, Porcuna, and Santiago-Pontones. The murals will be created by young artists Aldarias, ICAT, Furyo, Ana Corazón, Adoro, Rozalén, and Claudia.
