The Peruvian community residing in Jaén celebrated Peru's National Holidays this weekend, marking the 205th anniversary of the South American country's independence. The event, organized by the Platform of Latino Migrants in Jaén and the Association of Peruvians Residing in Jaén, took place at the Paseo de las Bicicletas.
Although the official date is July 28th, the community gathered to share their traditions. The mayor of Jaén, Julio Millán, along with the Councilor for Equality and Cooperation, Eva Funes, attended the event, reaffirming the council's commitment to the inclusion and coexistence of all citizens, regardless of their origin.
Attendees enjoyed typical Peruvian food and drinks, including ceviche, as well as traditional music and dances. According to figures provided by the association, there are 900 registered Peruvians in Jaén capital and approximately 3,000 throughout the province.
