The province of Jaén is participating in the European Handicraft Days with a program of activities designed to bring the uniqueness of artisan crafts closer to the public.

The territorial delegate for Employment, Business, and Self-Employment, Ana Mata, visited workshops in Chilluévar and Baeza, emphasizing the importance of this commemoration to promote the diversity and exceptionality of artisan creation in the province and throughout Europe.
Throughout the week, free activities will be offered for all ages, such as open days in workshops where visitors can learn about the artisan process, participate in making their own pieces, or attend live demonstrations. The program also includes exhibitions and guided tours of significant sites linked to craftsmanship.
One of the visited workshops was that of Antonio Jesús Puertas Moya in Chilluévar, specializing in olive wood. With over four decades of experience, Puertas blends tradition with contemporary design, using olive wood that requires a drying process of approximately five years. His pieces, treated with natural beeswax and oil, enhance the beauty of each grain.
In Baeza, María José Moreno Moreno, leading Cerámica Pepa Moreno, is dedicated to recovering 17th-century Baeza ceramics, characterized by their white tones and blue borders. Her workshop, recognized as an Artisan Interest Point (PIA), is located in a Renaissance-era house and offers demonstrations, exhibitions, and sales of her creations, including new lines using techniques like raku and photoceramics.
