Organized by the Official College of Nursing of Jaén (COEJ), the conference took place at the IFEJA Guadalquivir Auditorium this Wednesday, attracting both in-person and online participants. The president of the COEJ, Antonio Álamo, opened the event, highlighting the significance of this annual gathering which, after twelve editions, underscores the fundamental role of nursing in the future of the healthcare system.

Among the notable figures attending the inaugural ceremony were the mayor of Jaén, Julio Millán; the delegate of the Andalusian Government, Jesús Estrella; the second vice-president of the Provincial Council, Francisca Medina; and the president of the International Council of Nurses (ICN), José Luis Cobos Serrano.
The morning session covered topics such as updating practical tools and the social commitment of the profession. Experts like Antonio Orly de Labry Lima from the Andalusian Center for Drug Documentation and Information (CADIME) and Professor Eva Mª Martín Ruiz from the University of Huelva shared practical resources. María Jesús Hernández López, a nurse from Rafael Méndez Hospital in Murcia, presented the HELPeN project, focused on nursing leadership in addressing unwanted loneliness. Also participating were Dr. Ian Blanco Mavillard from the Regional University Hospital of Málaga and Concepción Cruzado Álvarez, president of the Spanish Association of Cardiology Nursing.
In the afternoon, the conference focused on specific and emerging areas, including the work of Military Nursing, presented by Lieutenant Colonel Alicia Moreno Moreno. Montserrat Álvarez Colorado from Virgen Macarena Hospital in Seville showcased the contribution of advanced practice nurses in oncology. Additionally, digital reference tools and the impact of hospital stays on caregivers were explored, with interventions by Belén Jiménez Ojeda and Raquel Ruiz Rosso, respectively.
The technological highlight was provided by Mariano Salas Martínez, Digital Transformation Manager at Google in Spain and founder of the International Observatory of Artificial Intelligence, who discussed productivity and the use of Gemini in the health sector. The event concluded with a dialogue from ‘Factoría Cuidando’ and a performance by mentalist magician Nacho Fenollar, adding a touch of creativity to the high-level scientific and humanistic conference.
