The alert, which began with the notification of the bacteria's presence, has been extended to cover over twenty moringa products from at least fourteen different brands. Although these items are being withdrawn from the market, consumers who have any of the affected products at home are advised not to consume them.
Among the affected brands are Organic Moringa (Zenement), BODTOX 2.0 XL Pack EF (Energy Feelings), Organic Moringa Powder (Samskara), and several presentations from Energy Feelings, Samskara, Eco-Salim, Joylife, Solnatural, Foorganic, Bibonatur, Dreamfoods, Planeta Huerto, The Saffron Company JJ, Frisafran, Drasanvi, El Granero, and El Granero Integral.
Moringa, considered a "superfood" for its high content of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and plant-based proteins, is a tropical plant native to northern India. It is mainly marketed as a powder made from dried and crushed leaves, although it can also be found in capsules, tablets, infusions, and cosmetic oil.
Various studies investigate its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as its potential nutritional contribution. However, much of the attributed benefits are still under research, and there is insufficient evidence to consider it a substitute for medical treatments. In Spain, moringa is typically distributed through health food stores and specialized shops.
