The incident took place during a drug and alcohol checkpoint set up by the Traffic Subsector. Upon being signaled to stop, the driver accelerated abruptly to evade the officers, triggering a pursuit that lasted for nine kilometers.
The driving, described by authorities as reckless, ended when the vehicle lost control and became immobilized in a gravel area. After searching the interior, officers discovered the narcotics hidden inside the car.
The detainee faces charges for a public health offense and a road safety crime, the latter for driving with manifest disregard for the lives of others. The case has been referred to the judicial authorities in accordance with the Penal Code.
