Under the theme ‘Museums Uniting a Divided World’, the initiative includes more than fifty activities spread across the autonomous community. The offerings range from workshops and concerts to theatrical itineraries, access to restoration laboratories, and inclusive proposals for people with disabilities.
“"Andalusian museums and sites are fundamental in safeguarding heritage, offering society a space for learning and understanding."
This statement underscores the commitment to the objective of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) to foster dialogue, inclusion, and peace through culture.
In the province of Jaén, the program is particularly varied. The Museum of Jaén will offer thematic itineraries, oral narration, a debate on museum institutions, and visits to its workshops and archives. The musical agenda will include a concert by the Brassisimo Quintet and a performance by the Mab Band Garay big band. Additionally, two new exhibition spaces will be inaugurated for the occasion.
The Iberian Museum of Jaén joins the celebration with a family film workshop and another dedicated to making Roman sandals, a didactic and playful proposal designed for the whole family. In the Sierra de Cazorla region, the Museum of Popular Arts and Customs of Alto Guadalquivir will host a theatrical visit about the history of the Castillo de la Yedra. Meanwhile, the Archaeological Museum of Úbeda will present the family play ‘The Time Travelers’, and the Archaeological Museum of Linares will exhibit bone, antler, and ivory pieces from the Cástulo Archaeological Complex, alongside a watercolor exhibition.
Outside of Jaén, the rest of Andalusia will also feature diverse activities, such as Roman goldsmith workshops in Itálica, immersive virtual reality experiences at the Dolmens of Antequera, the opening of resident artist studios at the C3A in Córdoba, visits to the restoration laboratories of the Archaeological Museum of Córdoba, and concerts and theatrical performances in museums in Almería, Cádiz, Granada, Huelva, Málaga, and Seville.
