On Tuesday morning, residents of the Peñamefécit neighborhood in Jaén capital witnessed a notable presence of the National Police. The operation, which involved various units of the force, was remarkable for its scale, with hooded and armed officers, and patrol cars blocking access to streets adjacent to Arjona Avenue.
A similar situation occurred near La Merced Square, located in the city's historic center. Eyewitnesses reported several house searches in the area. However, neither the Government Subdelegation nor the National Police have confirmed these details, stating only that the investigation remains open.
“"The investigation remains open."
Authorities have also not confirmed whether arrests have been made, despite some residents claiming otherwise. Furthermore, no information has been provided regarding the condition of a man who was injured in Peñamefécit while attempting to escape from officers by jumping from a rooftop, falling a considerable height and requiring medical attention.
As of now, official sources have not specified the reason for this intervention. Nevertheless, it has been learned that several home searches were conducted, including one on Reconciliación Street, and officers removed numerous sealed bags and boxes.
