The exhibition, titled Mis Pepas, will be displayed in the hall of the León Ortega School of Art and Design in Huelva from April 29 to May 19. The official opening will take place on Wednesday, April 29, at 6:30 PM. Visitors can enjoy the artworks on school days, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
“"Mis Pepas is not just a series of portraits; it is a personal cartography about the meaning of inhabiting female maturity, a clear intention to rescue and transform the image of older women —friends for life or fleeting strangers— to give them back what oblivion often takes away: a unique identity and an intimate story."
The series is conceived as a meeting point of identities, a "network of female resistance" that brings together diverse women with common interests. The artist describes her work as a tribute to elderly women, whom she observes with admiration and gratitude, feeling deeply identified with them.
A distinctive detail in all the works is that the female figures direct their gaze to the left. This is not a random choice but a deliberate act of honor: a look towards the past (and perhaps, why not, also to the future) to acknowledge the journey made and the genealogy that sustains them.
