The political party made this request after a meeting with representatives from the Huelva Street Vendors Association, who expressed their discontent at learning about the municipal intention to relocate the market, currently situated in Marismas del Polvorín, through media and social networks.
According to VOX municipal spokesperson Wenceslao Font, the vendors find it legitimate for the City Council to address the neighborhood's demands in the area, but they argue that their economic needs must also be considered. Sector representatives had previously requested a meeting with the mayor and later conveyed their concerns to councilor Alfonso Castro on May 19th.
Among the alternatives proposed to the City Council are a zone in Avenida de Manguara and the Feria del Caballo fairgrounds, although the latter option has reportedly been discarded due to implementation difficulties. The vendors have also reiterated their rejection of the Recinto Colombino, deeming it unsuitable for their commercial activity due to dust and weather conditions.
Any decision regarding the future location of the market must be made with the direct participation of those affected.
In light of this situation, VOX has urged the Governing Team to act through dialogue and consensus, seeking a solution that integrates both neighborhood demands and the needs of the street vendor sector. Wenceslao Font has emphasized the importance of direct participation from those affected and has called for a specific meeting with the association to address the matter.
