The municipality of Villablanca, in Huelva, celebrates the 45th edition of its International Dance Festival, an event that brings together over 300 artists from 11 countries and has become a cultural bridge.

The small municipality of Villablanca, located in the El Andévalo region of Huelva, once again becomes a global meeting point thanks to its International Dance Festival, which this year reaches its 45th edition. The event, declared of Andalusian Cultural Interest, will bring together more than 300 dancers from 11 countries, solidifying its position as one of the province's major cultural highlights.
Despite international challenges that have complicated the participation of some groups, the festival maintains its essence of building bridges between cultures through the universal language of dance. This year's representation will include countries from Europe, America, and Africa, although there will be no Asian representation due to the situation in the Middle East.

"For a town of about 3,000 inhabitants, maintaining an international cultural event for so long is an unusual achievement."

The mayor of Villablanca, José Manuel Zamora, has highlighted the collective effort and merit involved in a municipality of approximately 3,000 inhabitants sustaining an event of this magnitude for 45 years. The festival's longevity is increasingly threatened by logistical challenges and difficulties in troupe travel in an uncertain global context.
Each participating group brings not only choreography but also their memory, traditions, and music, enriching the spectacle and transforming cultural differences into part of the celebration. The festival has become a benchmark that transcends the municipality's dimensions, placing Huelva on the international dance map.
A key element in the festival's success is its volunteer program. Around 80 young people aged between 14 and 30 will contribute selflessly to this edition, ensuring the event runs smoothly and passing on the festival's spirit to new generations, a factor that explains its continuity.
The celebration will not be confined to Villablanca but will extend to ten other municipalities in the province of Huelva between August 22nd and 29th. Performances will reach Bonares, San Juan del Puerto, Palos de la Frontera, Aljaraque, Almonaster la Real, Villanueva de los Castillejos, El Cerro de Andévalo, Zalamea la Real, Cortegana, and the Muelle de las Carabelas. The festival's opening on Thursday, August 27th, will feature the ancestral Danza de los Palos de Villablanca, followed by performances from groups such as Ru Maccature Folk Group (Italy), Show Dance-Cuerpos en Movimiento (Colombia), and the Conjunto de Danza Folclórica Ararat (Armenia).
