The University of Huelva will host the 1st International Multidisciplinary Engineering Congress from June 3 to 5, an initiative to establish the city as a scientific and technical benchmark.

The congress will bring together researchers, faculty, students, and professionals from various industrial sectors. The goal is to create a common space for knowledge transfer, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, facilitating participation in an international scientific event without the need for foreign travel.
As explained by the secretary of the Department of Mining, Mechanical, Energy, and Construction Engineering, Ángel Mariano Rodríguez, the initiative stems from previous experience in national and international congresses. "The idea was to gather the best practices from other congresses and bring them to our school to create a major international congress in Huelva, open to all branches of engineering and also to other areas of knowledge," he states.
The event will feature thematic lines ranging from industrial and energy engineering to teaching innovation, allowing participation from researchers in fields including experimental sciences or business administration. Accepted works will be published by the University of Huelva, and selected full articles will form part of a publication by an international publisher.
A priority objective is to facilitate access for young students and faculty. Therefore, the congress will offer reduced fees, especially for students, who can participate for 50 euros and present up to two communications. "We want to remove economic barriers and bring these types of experiences closer to those beginning their academic or research careers," highlights Rodríguez.
Professor Julio José Caparrós emphasizes the strong link between the congress and the province's business community. The main sessions will combine scientific sessions with professional meetings and round tables focused on strategic sectors for Huelva, such as the petrochemical industry, mining, and green hydrogen.
Leading companies from the Huelva industrial environment will have exhibition spaces to interact directly with students and graduates, collect resumes, and showcase job opportunities and innovation projects. The congress will also benefit from the collaboration of various university chairs linked to the industrial field.
The organization anticipates that this first edition will mark the beginning of a consolidated annual event, with the intention that the International Multidisciplinary Engineering Congress remains permanently linked to the University of Huelva and becomes a national and international reference event in the coming years.
