Bulgarian sisters Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva dominated the women's doubles category, claiming their fifth continental title. They defeated Turkish duo Bengisu Ercetin and Nazlican Inci with a score of 21-11 and 21-17 in a 40-minute match. This victory solidifies their supremacy in Europe, surpassing the record of four titles held by the historic Danish pair Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl.
In the mixed doubles competition, Danes Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje earned their first European gold medal. They triumphed over English opponents Callum Hemming and Estelle Van Leeuwen with scores of 21-19 and 21-14 in 45 minutes. This result also marked the first medal for the British pair, who took home the silver.
The Carolina Marín Palace, host venue for the event, will pay tribute this Sunday to the Huelva-born player it is named after, Carolina Marín, following her retirement. Additionally, the individual and men's doubles finals will be played, where current champions, brothers Christo and Toma Junior Popov, will face English pair Ben Lane and Sean Vendy.
The individual finals also promise excitement. In the men's category, Danish two-time European champion Anders Antonsen will seek his third title against Frenchman Christo Popov. Meanwhile, in the women's final, reigning champion Line Kjaersfeldt of Denmark will compete against Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour, a five-time runner-up.
