Children admitted to the Pediatrics ward and the Pediatric Day Hospital of the Juan Ramón Jiménez University Hospital, part of the Andalusian Health Service, experienced a special day thanks to a visit from the ‘Mar Pozo for the Smile of a Child’ Association. This event marks the start of the new hospital year's recreational activities.
The character of Spider-Man, wearing his iconic black Venom suit, toured the minors' rooms. He was accompanied by the hospital's general director, Manuel García de la Vega, members of the management team, and nursing professionals from the Pediatrics team. During the visit, they distributed batches of play and educational materials, including puzzles, games, toys, coloring books, crayons, pencils, and play-doh.
This initiative is part of the association's projects in various healthcare centers aimed at improving the stay of hospitalized minors. The association has participated in this solidarity action with the hospital for years, establishing a strong bond with the pediatric ward.
The activity is framed within the hospital center's humanization program, a key strategy to mitigate the impact of medical admission and transform the hospital into a more welcoming and friendly environment for children. The recreational materials were collected thanks to the solidarity of various entities that organize charity events for the association.
The ‘Mar Pozo for the Smile of a Child’ Association channels these donations to hospitals across Andalusia, allowing pediatric patients to momentarily forget their treatments. The hospital management expresses great gratitude for the association's consistency, effort, and involvement, as well as that of all collaborating entities, highlighting the importance of such alliances for the emotional well-being of children and their families during their recovery process.
