The Junta de Andalucía has announced the dates for the University Access Tests (PAU) 2026, which will be held in Huelva on June 2, 3, and 4 for the ordinary call. This announcement marks the final stretch for thousands of students aiming to secure their university places for the next academic year.
The 2026 edition of Selectivity consolidates the exam model derived from the Lomloe educational reform. This approach moves away from traditional memorization, requiring students to demonstrate a practical application of their knowledge and skills. Examining boards will rigorously assess reasoning ability, critical thinking, and linguistic correctness, warning that errors in expression or lack of coherence can penalize the final grade.
The access system is structured into two phases. The compulsory Access Test allows for a maximum of 10 points and covers subjects such as Spanish Language and Literature, a Foreign Language, a Baccalaureate modality subject, and a choice between History of Spain or Philosophy.
For those aspiring to degrees with high cut-off marks, the Admission Test is crucial. This voluntary phase allows students to add up to 4 additional points, reaching a maximum of 14. The scores obtained in these additional exams are multiplied by coefficients of 0.1 or 0.2, depending on the direct relevance of the subject to the desired university degree. It is essential for students to consult the tables of the Distrito Único Andaluz to optimize their strategy.
The final admission score does not solely depend on the June results. The Baccalaureate average accounts for 60% of the base score (6 points), while the compulsory PAU block contributes the remaining 40% (4 points). The points obtained in the voluntary phase are then added to this total.
After the publication of results on June 11, the application period for the Distrito Único Andaluz will open until June 22. University place allocations will begin in July, with the first list on July 3 and a second on July 16. The process will continue with "listas de resultas" until mid-October, ensuring all vacancies in the Andalusian public system are filled.
