The delegate of the Junta de Andalucía Government in Huelva, accompanied by the territorial delegate for Educational Development and the director of IES Pintor Pedro Gómez, presented the balance of the 2025-2026 school year in the province. The management of the Juanma Moreno government was highlighted as "effective and serious," emphasizing an "unquestionable change of model in Andalusia" that ensures public funds reach the classrooms.
The "paralysis" of the Andalusian educational system over the years was criticized, and the investment of over 17 million euros in the province of Huelva was highlighted to improve study and work conditions, climate comfort, accessibility, and infrastructure modernization.
The territorial delegate detailed the investments, including 3.8 million euros for Climate Comfort and energy efficiency, and over 2.8 million for the 'Mejora Tu Centro' program. 750,119 euros were allocated to summer works in municipalities such as Huelva capital, La Palma del Condado, Lepe, Nerva, and Ayamonte. Major investments totaling 9.3 million euros are underway or awarded before the end of 2026.
The school year was also marked by the consequences of storms. The Andalucía Actúa Plan registered 24 urgent interventions in Huelva, valued at 2,638,000 euros, to repair roofs, leaks, and enclosures, ensuring normal operations in all educational centers.
In terms of diversity, Huelva now has 118 specific classrooms, compared to 83 in 2018, with 13 Special Education classrooms and two PTVAL classrooms created this year. Specialist staff has increased by 32% since 2018, totaling 1,512 professionals for vulnerable students.
The free provision of schooling for 2-year-olds was described as a "historic step" to facilitate work-life balance and early schooling, a measure that will be extended to 1-year-olds.
Vocational Training (FP) was defined as "one of the main tools for accessing employment in Huelva," with 11,942 students. The IES Pintor Pedro Gómez will implement the Higher Degree in Mechanical Manufacturing Production Programming, a pioneering course aimed at meeting local business demand. For the next academic cycle, Huelva will offer 12,041 public FP places and nearly 300 training cycles.
Finally, the strengthening of the teaching profession was highlighted, with 182 more teachers and salary equalization with the average of autonomous communities. Investment in educational retention programs and the reinforcement of programs like PROA+ are contributing to the progressive reduction of the school dropout rate in Huelva.
