The president of the Huelva Provincial Council has announced that the Maintenance and Conservation Project for the old train station is in its final stages. Although no exact deadlines have been provided due to bureaucratic procedures, the provincial institution is working to expedite its implementation.
Various actions have already been taken to prevent the deterioration of the area, including cleaning, evicting occupants, and fencing the perimeter. Additionally, permanent 24-hour security surveillance has been established. The conservation project includes removing elements like air conditioning and securing any parts that could fall, ensuring the station remains in perfect condition.

In parallel, work is underway on the definitive construction project for the building's rehabilitation, so that the province can finally use the station as a major cultural center. This project is based on a proposal from 2025, adapted to ensure maximum protection of the property.
The Provincial Council recently approved the declaration of the space as a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC), which will provide comprehensive protection to the property. Following the approval of the application, a meeting was held with the Junta de Andalucía and the provincial delegates of the Ministry of Culture to advance the process of initiating the file. The provincial institution emphasizes the importance of preserving the station and regrets the bureaucratic delays that hinder faster progress.
