The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has unveiled a proposal to construct 8,000 public homes in the province of Huelva within the next two years, alongside offering support for mortgage down payments.

Housing has become one of the central pillars of the Andalusian PSOE's campaign. A party spokesperson in Huelva detailed that the proposed model would enable the construction of thousands of housing units in the province over the next biennium.
During a press conference, the socialist leader emphasized that access to decent housing is a primary concern for young people and working families, positioning this issue as a top priority in the PSOE-A's electoral program.
The spokesperson noted that the current real estate market is “inaccessible” for a large segment of the population, citing the need for substantial prior savings to acquire high-value properties.

"What is not right is that there is no construction of public housing."

In this context, the socialist party criticized the management of the Junta de Andalucía, arguing that despite receiving “more money than ever” from European funds and the central Government, it has failed to promote an adequate public housing stock.
In response, the PSOE advocates for a model that considers housing a “right” and has announced a key measure: the administration will facilitate the payment of 20% of the mortgage down payment required by banks.

"Whoever does not have the capacity to save, whoever does not have that money, the administration will facilitate that down payment."

Furthermore, it was explained that a new financing system would inject an additional 5.8 billion euros into Andalusian accounts, with the goal of building 100,000 public homes across Andalusia in two years. Of these, an estimated 8,000 would be allocated to the province of Huelva.
Finally, the spokesperson reiterated that the upcoming elections on May 17 present a choice between “two models”: that of the Popular Party, associated with privatization and speculation, and that of the PSOE, focused on strengthening public services and guaranteeing access to housing.
