The operation, which concluded with the arrest of ten individuals, all now in prison, has resulted in the seizure of a vast quantity of narcotics, war weapons, vehicles, and logistical equipment. This strike represents one of the largest against drug trafficking in the country, particularly in the province of Huelva.
The events date back to March 13, when the organization successfully introduced approximately five tons of cocaine via the Huelva coastline, using high-speed boats. This method is commonly employed in international trafficking due to its speed and difficulty of detection. After landing, the drugs were transported by road to Gibraleón, where their storage and subsequent distribution were organized.
The following day, agents detected the start of the drug distribution. A first van transported part of the haul to a residence in Utrera, while a second vehicle, loaded with 35 bales exceeding a ton of cocaine, was intercepted by the police. During this intervention, the driver and two other individuals, who were conducting counter-surveillance to alert of potential controls, were arrested. The suspects were carrying a long-range war weapon, a pistol, abundant ammunition, and a frequency jammer, highlighting the network's high level of organization and dangerousness.
The investigations culminated in simultaneous raids on two properties used as drug "nurseries" in Gibraleón and Utrera. In the Huelva property, agents seized over 3,500 kilograms of cocaine along with four Kalashnikov assault rifles, cash, and a stolen van with falsified license plates. During the intervention, carried out by the Special Operations Group, five people were arrested, including the property owner. In the Utrera residence, another 400 kilograms of cocaine were seized, and two more individuals linked to the organization were arrested.
The final tally of the operation includes the seizure of five tons of cocaine, five war weapons (four Kalashnikovs and one long-range weapon), a pistol, five vehicles, 17 mobile phones, and over 5,000 euros in cash. The ten detainees are accused of belonging to a criminal organization, drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, and vehicle theft, and all have been remanded in prison following their appearance before the court.
The investigation, led by the Audiencia Nacional and the Special Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office, confirmed that the organization operated with a perfectly defined structure and possessed the logistical capability to introduce, store, and distribute large quantities of drugs, even internationally. This action dismantles one of the most significant networks active in southern Spain, responsible for the largest cocaine haul intercepted to date on the coasts of Huelva.
