The remains of a cetacean, about three meters in length, have been removed from the entrance of the Huelva estuary by Maritime Rescue. The presence of the adrift animal posed a significant risk to navigation in this area, used by fishing, recreational, and merchant vessels.
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Center activated an operation involving the vessel Salvamar Vela. This unit was responsible for towing the animal's body to the Mazagón Sports Port, completing the operation without incident.
Once ashore, the cetacean's remains will be transferred to the facilities of the Andalusian Center for the Management of the Marine Environment (CEGMA). Technicians there will conduct a necropsy and biological analyses to determine the exact species and potential causes of death.
