The incident occurred shortly after the coach departed, when Renfe staff contacted the driver to inform him of the situation. This bus was one of three vehicles chartered by the company to transport passengers destined for Huelva, who were already facing significant delays due to an earlier issue on the Madrid-Huelva line.
According to affected passenger Rafael Gómez, unclear information about the bus locations caused some travelers to be left behind at Santa Justa Station. He also noted a shortage of direct buses to Huelva, forcing many to take a coach with a prior stop in La Palma, adding an extra half hour to the existing delay.
The necessity for the bus to turn back to pick up the forgotten passengers resulted in an additional thirty-minute delay. In total, the journey was extended by approximately one hour beyond the original schedule.
Gómez also described the circumstances of the initial train breakdown, where Red Cross services provided water and biscuits to passengers in Villanueva de Córdoba. The journey, scheduled to arrive at 2:00 PM, ultimately concluded at 6:45 PM.
