The film, an independent project developed since 2021, seeks to capture a moment of transformation in Granada, using the figure of Chorrojumo as a symbolic element connecting the Andalusian past with the city's present and future.
The film's director has stated that the creation of this central character allowed them to rediscover the city, addressing uncomfortable questions about tourism and the right to inhabit a space that, at times, seems to become alien to its own residents.
“"I tried to capture a very specific moment in Granada, a moment of transformation. I wanted to create an eternal photograph of the city and those of us who inhabit it, something that in a few years we can look back on and say, this was also Granada."
The project, which began without major support, has been sustained by intuition and effort, overcoming filming difficulties that spanned from 2021 to 2022, followed by a lengthy editing process. The film has already been presented at festivals, and its premiere in Granada is considered a crucial milestone by its creators.
The work highlights the importance of protecting Granada's essence and cultural identity, at a time when the city is grappling with its past and its vision for the future, especially looking towards the year 2031. It emphasizes the need for culture to grow without displacing local inhabitants.
