The procedure, which took place on April 29, was made possible by the mobilization of a multidisciplinary team of over 20 specialists. The operation was coordinated by the Granada Transplant Sector Coordination, allowing both surgeries to be performed in parallel across two operating rooms over a period of more than nine hours.
The medical team included general surgeons, anesthesiologists, specialized nursing staff, auxiliary care technicians, intensive care physicians, and orderlies. The hospital highlighted the commitment of staff members who, despite being off-duty, joined the effort voluntarily to ensure both operations could proceed.
Since the liver transplant program began in April 2002, the hospital has performed over 700 such procedures. This level of specialization relies on constant collaboration between the Digestive System department, responsible for patient follow-up, and the intensive care units, which are essential for postoperative recovery.
