Data published by the Ministry of Labor show a 1.34% drop in unemployment in July compared to June, translating to an 8.89% year-on-year decrease. Of the total unemployed in the province, 25,225 are men and 35,535 are women. Among those under 25, unemployment stands at 5,300 people, with a slight male majority (2,666 versus 2,634 women).
The services sector leads the reduction in unemployment with 672 fewer people, although it remains the sector with the most job seekers at 40,688. Agriculture registers 112 fewer unemployed, totaling 4,106. Industry decreased by 70 people to 3,023, while construction saw an increase of 31 people, reaching 5,374 job seekers.
The group of people with no prior employment experience totals 7,569 registered in Granada. The majority are in the 30 to 44 years old age group (1,916), followed by those over 44 (1,820) and young people aged 20 to 24 (1,628).
Regarding foreign unemployment, it reaches 6,546 individuals, the majority linked to the services sector (3,027), followed by agriculture (629) and construction (294).
The drop in unemployment is not correlated with an increase in contracts, as 591 fewer labor agreements were signed in July than in June (a 1.96% decrease), totaling 29,585 contracts. However, this figure represents 1,041 more contracts than a year ago (a 3.65% increase).
Permanent contracts total 9,786, 790 fewer than the previous month but 452 more than in July of last year. So far in 2026, 189,700 contracts have been signed in Granada, of which 72,189 were permanent compared to 117,511 temporary.
