On World Health Day, Prieto, who also serves as the PSOE-A Health Secretary, condemned the delay by the PP-led Andalusian government. She noted that “it is suspicious that the Junta has not commented on the matter, especially with regional elections on May 17 just over a month away.”
“"If behind this lack of data, there is a clear intention to cover up figures that, given the evolution of data since the PP governs in Andalusia, would not bode well for Moreno Bonilla and his management."
The socialist politician recalled that data for December 2024 was released in March of last year, and to date, the situation of waiting lists in December 2025 remains unknown, which she describes as “secrecy” by the PP.
Prieto criticized the “continuous dismantling” of hospitals in the province, specifically mentioning those in Motril, Baza, Guadix, and Loja, in addition to “unfulfilled promises” regarding the Órgiva hospital. She emphasized that staff and service reductions have led to a “serious deterioration” in public healthcare, forcing many patients to travel to the capital for treatment.
The MP stated that the “diversion of public funds to private healthcare” promoted by the PP has yielded no positive results, leaving public healthcare “destroyed” and unable to meet the needs of users and healthcare staff, who are suffering from system saturation.
Finally, Prieto called on citizens to participate in the demonstration organized by the Coordinadora Andaluza de Mareas Blancas on Sunday, April 12, in Granada capital, viewing it as an opportunity to demand dignified and quality public healthcare, and as a prelude to the regional elections on May 17.
