The incident occurred around midday when a police patrol was dispatched to a health center. There, medical services reported the arrival of a bloodied individual who had left without receiving assistance. Witnesses on the street had previously alerted to a mutual assault between two men, one of them seriously injured.
Officers located a bloodied man carrying glass shards in both hands. Despite instructions to stop and drop the glass, the individual ran off with the shards like knives, clearly intending to attack his opponent, who was just meters away.
Given the serious risk to the physical integrity of those involved and the officers themselves, one policeman used his electric immobilizer (taser), successfully neutralizing the situation and preventing a potential fatal outcome.
An ambulance urgently transferred the 23-year-old man, who had a prior police record, to a hospital, where he was taken into custody for a serious threats offense. The other participant, aged 32 with numerous prior arrests, was treated and taken to police facilities accused of a lesiones offense. Both have been placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
