The Anatomy professor at the University of Granada, who will turn 70 in June, is retiring this summer. However, his plan is to remain connected to the institution as an extraordinary teaching collaborator, aiming to extend his activity until 2028. He intends to collaborate in Neuroanatomy within the Medicine degree program.
The year 2028 is not arbitrary, as it marks the centenary of the Association of Former Medical Students, which he presides over and is considered the oldest in Spain. The professor has expressed his desire to reach that date due to the numerous projects he has underway with the association.

The educator has also voiced his dissatisfaction with the current system for achieving the rank of full professor. He recounts personal and family experiences, such as his father's, whose research career was not recognized in the 90s, and his own, when his audiovisual work was dismissed by the evaluation agency.
The professor is part of a family lineage with over a century of tradition in medicine and university teaching in Granada. His grandfather was fundamental to the prestige of the Faculty of Medicine, and his father also stood out for his career. While acknowledging the influence of the family name, he argues that success is based on effort and quality.

Currently, the professor dedicates much of his time to the Association of Former Students, with the goal of recovering the history of the Faculty of Medicine, which boasts 500 years of antiquity. He has also compiled an extensive archive of graduation photos and data of former students, a unique resource within the institution.
Furthermore, he recalled his dismissal as a scientific advisor to the Science Park, where he carried out anatomical plastination work. Despite the situation, he highlighted the support received from the rector during those times.
