The eclipse will begin in Granada at 7:42 PM, reaching its maximum point around 8:37 PM. The final phase of the eclipse is scheduled for 9:28 PM. However, as the Sun will set at 9:10 PM, the visibility of the phenomenon will be limited by sunset.
Because the Sun will be low on the horizon, only 5.4 degrees, it is recommended to find an open and clear space, free from obstacles such as buildings, mountains, or trees that could interfere with observation.
For those unable to witness this eclipse, a next solar eclipse in Spain is announced for August 2, 2027. This future event will have its path of totality crossing the Strait and will be visible in several municipalities of the Costa de Sol of Granada, occurring in the morning, with its maximum at 10:49 AM.
The National Geographic Institute (IGN) warns that looking directly at a solar eclipse without protection can cause serious eye damage. It recommends the use of certified eclipse glasses compliant with the ISO 12312-2 standard, which feature special filters to reduce visible light and attenuate ultraviolet and infrared radiation.
