The festival has selected 26 projects for its main program, which emphasizes social and participatory photography. Submissions came from countries including Germany, Angola, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, United States, Spain, France, India, Iran, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay, and Venezuela, reinforcing the event's international scope.
The 26 selected works are divided into three key calls: four will compete for the Social Impact Photography Award, ten will be part of the Tabletop Viewings, and twelve have been chosen for the new Photobooks for Change line. This latter category expands the festival's formats, using imagery as a tool for reflection.
In the Social Impact Photography category, projects like 'Héroes del brillo' by Federico Estol and 'La pérdida' by George Ramos stand out. The Tabletop Viewings include ten works, such as 'Inconclusive' by Nerea Lakuntza and 'Clamor' by Carlos Sánchez Gómez. The new Photobooks for Change call has selected twelve proposals, including works by Silvia Prió and Shyam Ganju.
In addition to the main calls, the Energía de Barrio initiative will promote participatory photography processes in Granada districts such as Genil, Ronda, Zaidín, and Albayzín, fostering the creation of collective narratives about the neighborhoods.
Although the central program runs from September 28 to October 4, the festival's activities have already begun. Initiatives like 'El Reto: Viajar con sentío' extend to towns in the province such as Almuñécar, Bubión, Capileira, Castril, Lanjarón, Monachil, Nigüelas, Pampaneira, and Salobreña, using photography to reflect on the territory and ways of traveling.
The festival aims to bring together artists, professionals, communities, and citizens around a concept of photography that transcends its purely artistic dimension, promoting dialogue and social reflection.
