These interventions focus on restoring affected riverbeds and repairing state-owned hydraulic infrastructures. The primary goal is to recover drainage capacity, ensure hydraulic safety, and re-establish the optimal functioning of water transport systems in the region.
Regarding riverbeds, the investment amounts to 8.9 million euros, distributed among the companies Valoriza, Ventuceli, and Lindeo. The works will address sediment accumulation, fallen vegetation removal, and bank erosion in the main rivers and streams. Sediment removal, obstacle clearance, and bank stabilization will be carried out in the Genil River, both upstream and downstream of Granada. Additionally, actions will be taken in the Aguas Blancas River basin and the Maitena River to remove debris and improve riparian vegetation.
The Monachil River, in its section between Monachil and the capital, will undergo cleaning and stabilization efforts. Meanwhile, the Milanos stream, which flows through Montefrío, Loja, and Huétor Tájar, will receive a comprehensive intervention along more than 22 kilometers to correct erosion, remove sediments, and eliminate invasive vegetation. These actions are crucial for restoring drainage capacity and reducing the risk of flooding in areas most vulnerable to extraordinary floods.
Furthermore, 2.33 million euros will be allocated to the repair of state hydraulic infrastructures, a contract awarded to the company Albaida. The works include sediment removal, repair of service roads, and slope stabilization in the San Clemente Canal, in the municipalities of Huéscar and Castril. In the Hoya de Guadix Canal, repairs will be made to conduits, manholes, and electrical connections, in addition to road reconstruction.
The Colomera-Cubillas System, with special attention to the Deifontes weir, will undergo sediment cleaning and fence replacement. In the Loaysa Canal, which runs through Loja, Huétor Tájar, and Montefrío, electrical installations, technical buildings, and hydraulic equipment will be repaired. Finally, in the Jabalcón Canal, in Baza and Zújar, structures will be reinforced, roads reconstructed, and culverts cleaned to ensure their stability and proper functioning.
