The president of the PP-A and candidate for re-election, Juanma Moreno, has launched his electoral pre-campaign in Granada, presenting the provincial candidacies and reaffirming his commitment to lowering taxes in Andalusia.
In an event held this Saturday in Granada, Juanma Moreno, leader of the PP-A and aspiring to be re-elected as president of the Junta de Andalucía, presented his party's eight provincial candidacies for the upcoming regional elections on May 17. This event served as the kick-off for the pre-campaign, where Moreno outlined the main tenets of his speech, focusing on the promise to continue reducing taxes in the community, in contrast to the policies of the central government.
The gathering, which brought together all 109 candidates from the regional lists, including the 13 counselors of the Andalusian Government, filled the auditorium of the Barceló Congress Hotel in Granada. Moreno, who heads the list for Málaga, urged his colleagues to work intensively over the next six weeks to “win the hearts and sentiments of Andalusians,” presenting himself as “the party of Andalusia.”
“
"Today we present a great team of men and women with capacity, experience, enthusiasm, and dedication. We present a way of understanding politics, with seriousness, respect, vocation for public service... ambitious candidates, Andalusians who participate in the transformation of Andalusia."
Although the event did not include detailed electoral promises, Moreno emphasized his intention to maintain the bonus on the Inheritance and Donations Tax in Andalusia, calling the PSOE's proposal to reinstate it an “error.” Furthermore, he announced that this bonus would be extended to housing donations between siblings, highlighting that this measure has made life easier for many families and boosted donations.
The popular leader also addressed his opponents, María Jesús Montero and Manuel Gavira, without directly naming them, accusing them of seeking to “break the stability” achieved in Andalusia. He underscored the importance of political stability for the region's progress, contrasting the Andalusian situation with that of other communities like Extremadura, which has experienced political stalemates.
“
"Some say that public services have deteriorated in Andalusia, and that we are scoundrels making citizens suffer. We do not have a magic wand, we work through management, and sometimes there are things that cannot be reached."
Finally, Moreno remembered Olga Carrión, director of the Andalusian Women's Institute, who recently passed away, praising her dedication to the party and her fight for equality.
