This initiative is part of an infrastructure improvement plan scheduled by the company for 2026. The primary goal is to address grid saturation, largely attributed to electrical fraud, particularly that associated with marijuana cultivation.

According to the company, the North District of the Granadan capital records 56% electrical fraud, with 74 buildings lacking supply contracts and 38 having only one active contract. This situation leads to infrastructure overload, despite the grid being designed to handle demand equivalent to an industrial park.

The plan includes the deployment of 2,800 meters of new medium-voltage lines and 600 meters of low-voltage lines throughout 2026. Over 1,000 meters of medium-voltage lines have already been installed in streets such as Bermúdez de Pedraza, Julio Moreno Dávila, and Rodrigo de Triana, with further work planned for low-voltage networks in Francisco Javier Simonet.

In addition to cabling, the company will install a new transformation center in the area, equipped with two 1,000-kilowatt transformers each, an unusual capacity for urban areas. This infrastructure adds to the 19 already installed over the past four years, capable of supplying approximately 29,000 homes.

This year's investment complements the more than eight million euros the company has allocated to this area of Granada over the last four years. In neighborhoods like Cartuja, Casería Montijo, and La Paz, the network already boasts up to five times the necessary power based on population density.
