The investigation began after a 35-year-old Italian woman, the vehicle's owner, reported the disappearance of her camper van after parking it correctly. The affected party managed to locate the vehicle that same afternoon, a short distance from where she had left it, thanks to social media dissemination.
Although the camper van showed no apparent damage and had been parked properly, the owner noticed the absence of numerous personal items, including backpacks, tools, a sleeping bag, clothes, a tent, a drill, vehicle documentation, and other personal utensils.
The Judicial Police agents in charge of the case carried out various inquiries in the area where the vehicle was found. The investigations included inspecting nearby homes and caves, finally focusing their attention on a seemingly inhabited pond. After locating the person residing there and searching the place, several of the reported stolen items were found.

As a result of the operation, the suspect was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of motor vehicle theft without intent to appropriate. The arrested individual, who has previous police records for a similar offense, has been brought before the judicial authorities, and the owner has recovered all her stolen belongings.
