The Provincial Council of Almería reiterated its unconditional support for the fruit and vegetable sector during the 49th Coexphal Assembly. At this key meeting, the organization presented to associates, institutions, companies, and sector agents the balance of the last campaign, short-term market forecasts, and the challenges for the Almerian agro-industry to maintain its leadership.
The President of the Provincial Institution, José Antonio García Alcaina, emphasized the “leading and decisive” role of the fruit and vegetable sector in building the Almería brand. He noted that the province's excellence is largely due to the work of companies and organizations like Coexphal, and defined the Almería Model as the result of the “ingenuity, talent, effort, sacrifice, and commitment” of families who have transformed an arid area into the vegetable garden of Europe.
García Alcaina highlighted the ‘Sabores Almería’ agri-food brand as an “exciting” project to foster territorial cohesion. Internationalization has been a successful strategy, with over 50 small companies from ‘Sabores Almería’ exporting to more than 20 countries, contributing to job creation and population retention, even in small municipalities like Chercos.
The president reiterated the Diputación's “unanimous and absolute” commitment to the Almerian countryside, guaranteeing support for its fair demands. He assured that greater agricultural leadership would lead to a more prosperous province for all Almerians. He also highlighted Coexphal's contribution to provincial development, emphasizing its capacity to ensure the sector's unity, strength, identity, and values.
