The incident unfolded in the center of Granada city when citizen security patrols were alerted by the CIMACC 091 Room about an altercation. A worker from a hospitality business reported being threatened with a bladed weapon by an individual.
While officers were en route, additional information was received indicating that a person with similar characteristics had also made threats against individuals participating in a procession. This intelligence was crucial for police to gather necessary details and locate the suspect as quickly as possible.
Operation Nazareno was key to preventing the perpetrator from continuing to cause public alarm during the festivities.
Minutes after the alerts, a citizen security patrol successfully located a man whose description and attire (white cap, black and white neck scarf, and white jacket and trousers) perfectly matched those provided by witnesses. Upon immobilization and search, officers found a golden metallic knife, 22 centimeters long, concealed near his chest in his jacket.
Once intercepted, officers gathered further testimonies from the threatened individuals, including the hospitality establishment employee and several procession participants. The 45-year-old man has since been handed over to judicial authorities.
