The event, scheduled at the Barceló Granada Congress hotel from 11:30 AM, symbolically marks the start of the Andalusian pre-campaign. The official campaign will commence on May 1, with focus on the distribution of the 109 seats in the Andalusian Parliament.
The Popular Party, which secured 58 seats in the 2022 elections, aims to maintain its absolute majority. Current polls suggest they could repeat this outcome, though the composition of the lists and the opposition's strategy will be crucial.
The PP-A candidacies, finalized this week by the Electoral Committee, show gender balance, with four women and four men leading the provincial lists. Moreno will head the list for Málaga, while in Granada, Rocío Díaz will be the lead candidate.
Opposite the PP, the main opposition bloc is led by the PSOE-A, which polls predict will struggle to maintain the 30 seats obtained four years ago.
The PSOE-A, with María Jesús Montero as its figurehead, will seek to halt the decline predicted by surveys. Healthcare is emerging as a central theme of their campaign, particularly after the breast cancer screening crisis. In Granada, the socialist list will be led by Olga Manzano, secretary of Equality for the PSOE-A, with Paco Cuenca as number two and María Ángeles Prieto in third place.
Meanwhile, VOX, which presented its candidacies in Málaga with Santiago Abascal and Manuel Gavira present, aims to grow and influence governance. In Granada, Beatriz Sánchez Agustino will lead the list.
The complex puzzle of the left-wing coalition Por Andalucía brings together various formations such as IU, Podemos Andalucía, Movimiento Sumar, and Iniciativa del Pueblo Andaluz. The distribution of lead candidates has been a delicate process, with Izquierda Unida leading in five provinces, Podemos in Jaén, and Movimiento Sumar in Cádiz. In Granada, the candidate for Por Andalucía will be Rafael Sánchez Rufo.
Finally, Adelante Andalucía, a left-wing Andalusian nationalist formation, presents itself with José Ignacio García as leader. The party will also present its candidates this Saturday in Málaga. In Granada, Inmaculada Manzano will be the lead candidate.
