The fire originated in the easternmost part of the slope, in an area close to homes located at the intersection of El Dornajo and Río streets. The swift action of a neighbor, alerted by other residents, who used a hose, was crucial in preventing the flames from reaching his house while emergency services were alerted.
Several units from the Granada Fire Department were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the flames. The fire occurred near an esplanade commonly used as a parking area, leading many users to remove their vehicles due to the generated alarm. The dense smoke column spread to other nearby areas of the capital such as Bola de Oro, Vergeles, Zaidín, or Centro.
No personal injuries have been reported. According to residents, this is a recurring event that burns annually in this area, usually at night, causing tense moments. Officers from the Local Police, National Police, and Civil Guard also attended the scene to clarify the causes of the incident.
