The initiative, promoted by UPA Granada in collaboration with the Diputación de Granada and the Nuestra Señora de los Remedios de Iznalloz cooperative, has kicked off at the CEIP Luis Rosales in the capital. Its main objective is to introduce the culture of olive oil to young people, promote healthy eating, and underscore the value of the olive oil sector in the province and in rural Andalusia.
“"This initiative is born with the intention of conveying to children the culture of olive oil consumption and the economic and social importance of olive groves for the province of Granada and for our rural areas."
After its launch in Granada city, the campaign will extend to educational centers in Santa Fe, Benalúa de las Villas, Cúllar, and Iznalloz. The sessions are adapted to the students' age and combine theory and practice, allowing them to learn about the different varieties of olive oil, the production process of EVOO, and the effort behind each bottle.
Schoolchildren participate in a guided tasting of extra virgin olive oil from the Nuestra Señora de los Remedios cooperative, accompanied by bread. This playful experience allows them to become little chefs for a day, equipped with chef hats, thus fostering interactive and memorable learning.
“"Children are the best messengers within families, and everything they learn today about healthy eating and olive oil will benefit society as a whole."
With this campaign, UPA Granada reaffirms its commitment to promoting extra virgin olive oil, nutritional education, and defending the olive oil sector as a fundamental economic, social, and cultural pillar for the province.
