The highly anticipated figure of La Tarasca, one of the undisputed protagonists of Granada's main festivals, now sports its new attire for the Corpus Christi celebration. This year, the choice is a sophisticated butter yellow dress, a trendy shade carefully selected by local designer Yolanda Ubago.
The design, blending tradition and elegance, is characterized by its simplicity and sophistication. It features a sleeveless cut with a halter neck and is complemented by a long, flowing cape. Details of gold beadwork on the neck and cape edges add a subtle sparkle. This year, La Tarasca also sports a new short, dark haircut, moving away from her previous red hair.
The selection of La Tarasca's costume is an event that generates great anticipation each year in Granada, widely considered the symbolic start of the Corpus Christi's main days and a showcase of local trends and customs. Designer Yolanda Ubago has expressed her excitement about contributing to the city's identity and dressing one of its most beloved characters.
La Tarasca's procession, accompanied by giants and 'cabezudos' (big-heads), will depart this Wednesday at 12:00 PM from the Plaza del Carmen. The route will include emblematic streets such as Reyes Católicos, Gran Vía de Colón, Cárcel Baja, San Jerónimo, Plaza de la Romanilla, Plaza de la Trinidad, and Mesones, before returning to the City Hall. Thousands of Granadans are expected to gather to watch the passage of this figure, which remains an essential symbol of Granada's Corpus Christi and a highly anticipated event.
