Granada's municipal stall hosted the 14th edition of 'La Tapa Casetera', a gastronomic contest highlighted by its collaborative atmosphere, awarding originality and local flavor.

The traditional gastronomic contest 'La Tapa Casetera', in its fourteenth edition, was held at the municipal stall in Granada during the Corpus Christi Monday. The event, more focused on camaraderie than competition, recognized the quality of the tapas presented by 17 establishments.
In the 'most traditional tapa' category, the award went to the creation from the D'Canela stall. Meanwhile, La Cayetana won the award for 'most Granadian tapa', and La Cueva del Curro received the recognition for 'most innovative' for the second time.
The event, which shared space with the 'Sabor Granada' initiative, featured tapas blending avant-garde and traditional cuisine. Chef Diego Morales from El Farol was the only participant to wear his professional uniform, presenting a 'Chickpea Pipirrana with Flamenco-style Cod'.
Participants and attendees enjoyed a tasting in a reserved area, protected from the heat and crowds. The diversity of flavors, from seafood hints to more rooted dishes like cheeks and legumes, marked the culinary offerings.
The jury, composed of Carolina Amate (Councillor for Major Festivals and Protocol), Alberto Viola (Federation of Stallholders), Juan Manuel López (General Secretary of the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism Businesses of Granada), and Pedro López (Tourism Department of the City Council), evaluated the seventeen presented tapas.
The general atmosphere of the contest was one of collaboration and mutual enjoyment among the stallholders. Many of the tapas, such as the one prepared by María Dolores from La Cachucha, reflected a year of preparation and enthusiasm. The 'Fair Bonbon' tapa from El Cortijo, featuring semi-cured cheese, raspberry, and Iberian ham, was also highlighted.
The 'pork cheek millefeuille on a potato base' tapa from D'Canela secured its victory as the 'most traditional'. La Cayetana's 'Riofrío Trout marinated in Alhambra PX beer' was the 'most Granadian', and 'La Media Noche del Curro', a sandwich of pork cheeks with brie cheese and raspberry reduction, was crowned the 'most innovative'.
The president of the Federation of Stallholders of Granada, Claudio Rodríguez, emphasized that the event is 'a celebration' and not a competition, noting the increasing quality of the proposals each year.
