Among the most prominent interventions is the creation of a new connection for pedestrians and cyclists between the Casería de Montijo neighborhood and the Cartuja university campus. This project, which seeks to overcome the existing unevenness and extend a current path, will involve an investment of nearly 500,000 euros and will feature a three-meter width with differentiated spaces for both types of users, in addition to lighting to ensure nighttime safety.
The plan also includes the creation of a new green area spanning over 1,000 square meters on Luz Casanova street, transforming an undeveloped space into a landscaped environment with trees, an irrigation system, and urban furniture. This initiative aims to provide residents with a new area for recreation and leisure.
Additionally, renovations will be carried out on several streets in the district, such as Tánger, Vélez de Gomera, Periodista Pedro Gómez Aparicio, and Periodista Rafael García Fernández de Burgos. These actions will focus on renewing pavements and sidewalks, reorganizing the road network to improve pedestrian and vehicular traffic, and adapting ramps and stairs to comply with accessibility regulations.
“"With these actions, we are responding to the demands of residents in the North District, improving accessibility and mobility in spaces that needed intervention to facilitate their daily use."
The total budget for these works amounts to 1,021,720.32 euros (including VAT), with an estimated execution period of ten months. These interventions are part of the Municipal Works Plan 2024–2027, reaffirming the council's commitment to improving the quality of life in the city.
