Following a magnitude 5 earthquake with its epicenter in Alhendín in the early hours of the morning, the ground has continued to tremble. A magnitude 3 aftershock, with its epicenter in Gójar, occurred this morning, adding to the small tremors that have prevented many Granadans from resting.
These tremors have been accompanied by several hours of heavy rain and thunder. The electrical storm, affecting both the capital and the metropolitan belt, is causing minor power outages in areas such as El Zaidín, La Zubia, and the El Realejo neighborhood.
The State Meteorological Agency has issued a yellow alert for storms and rain in the Cuenca del Genil region, as well as in the areas of Guadix, Baza, Nevada, and Alpujarras. An accumulated rainfall of 20 liters per hour is expected, with the alert in effect until 9:59 PM.
