The incident occurred early in the morning when the victim, a 68-year-old woman, awoke to noises and discovered an intruder in her living room. Upon her shouting, the assailant fled by jumping from the balcony. Police officers who arrived at the scene found the balcony window frame dislodged, indicating it may have been the thief's point of entry and exit.
Among the items allegedly stolen by the thief before his escape were a credit card, a mobile phone, a tablet, several personal documents, and 50 euros in cash. During the inspection, the National Police located a watch on the balcony's planter box that did not belong to the victim.
Thanks to the identification of the watch, the alleged perpetrator's identity was determined, leading to a police search. A week later, a community policing patrol identified the individual on the building's terrace. Upon finding black gloves and a flat-head screwdriver, items likely used for committing robberies, it was confirmed he had an active arrest warrant for a previous forced burglary.
The detainee, who has around thirty prior police records for similar offenses, has been handed over to judicial authority. The police force's press release highlighted the significance of the items found at the crime scene in solving the case.
