The Molino Nuevo Sports Center in Granada will undergo a major renovation of its sports courts, with a municipal investment of 120,000 euros. The project includes the replacement of the flooring on both courts, improved accessibility, and the installation of LED lighting, aiming to provide a safer and higher-quality space for users.
The Councilor for Sports, Jorge Iglesias, highlighted that this intervention fulfills the Council's commitment to local sports and the improvement of public facilities. "Molino Nuevo is a facility closely linked to the daily life of the North District and the Rey Badis area, so this action responds to a community demand," he stated.
The works will address the current deterioration of the playing surfaces, affected by cracks and wear. New, more durable, and safer flooring will be installed. One court will feature a multi-layer resin surface for indoor soccer and basketball, while the other will have state-of-the-art draining artificial turf. Regulatory markings, perimeter curbs, and access ramps will also be adapted.
The replacement of current floodlights with LED lighting will not only increase energy efficiency but also enhance visibility and safety. "We want children, young people, clubs, educational centers, and all residents to be able to practice sports in dignified, safe facilities adapted to current needs," added Iglesias.
The execution of the works is scheduled for a period of one month, aiming to minimize disruption to regular users. This intervention is part of the municipal plan for the rehabilitation of sports facilities, which involves a total investment of over 1.3 million euros across various city neighborhoods.
