The province of Granada marked the first anniversary of a widespread power outage that plunged the region into a state of chaos and disconnection. This event, which impacted thousands of residents, lasted for more than 12 hours, affecting not only homes and commercial establishments but also major communication routes.
For much of the day, the inhabitants of Granada found themselves isolated due to the lack of electricity and the subsequent collapse of mobile phone and internet networks. This interruption prevented the use of essential services such as messaging and calls, leading to an almost complete technological disconnection in various areas of the province.
The experience of isolation felt by residents has been compared to other emergency situations, such as those experienced during the coronavirus lockdown. This incident highlighted the vulnerability of infrastructure to widespread failures.
