The Provincial Council of Granada has activated two collaboration lines with a budget exceeding 4.5 million euros to assist municipalities in the province affected by the recent series of earthquakes.

These funds supplement contingency funds, reserves, and Presidency resources, as detailed by the entity's president, Francis Rodríguez. The first funding line will be used to repair damage to municipal assets and infrastructure not covered by insurance or the municipalities' own civil liability policies.
The second line will be structured through direct grants to cover extraordinary current expenses incurred by the town councils during the emergency, thereby ensuring resident safety and the restoration of damaged services and public spaces.
President Francis Rodríguez, alongside Vice President María Vera and the Deputy for Emergencies, Eduardo Martos, presented these measures aimed at supporting town councils with the extraordinary expenses they have had to assume.
The program will finance extraordinary technical inspections of buildings and infrastructure, as well as the fees of professionals responsible for assessing damage. Actions such as shoring, fencing, debris removal, and cleaning of public spaces will also be subsidized.
Furthermore, it includes the repair of streets, roads, squares, networks, and facilities affected by seismic movements, as well as expenses related to the preventive closure and subsequent reopening of public spaces.
The plan also contemplates urgent actions on privately owned properties if necessary to prevent risks to people or public thoroughfares, including emergency inspections, fencing, and removal of elements at risk of falling.
Francis Rodríguez expressed gratitude for the work of the Provincial Firefighters and all municipal personnel and workers for their professionalism and dedication during the period of intense seismic activity.
Through this program, the provincial institution aims to continue the emergency response and facilitate a second phase focused on the recovery and return to normality for the affected municipalities.
