The city of Granada is hosting one of its most anticipated sporting events this Saturday, the 42nd edition of the Granada City Half Marathon. The strong reception for the event is reflected in the 6,000 bibs sold, although weather uncertainty, with the possibility of rain, adds an element of anticipation.
The half marathon route spans the city's eight districts. Of the 6,000 participants, 5,500 athletes will cover the full distance of 21 kilometers and 97 meters, starting on Poeta Manuel de Góngora street at 7:30 PM. The remaining 500 runners will take part in a quarter marathon of 10 kilometers, beginning at Plaza de San Isidro, next to the old Faculty of Medicine, between 8:30 PM and 9:00 PM.
Key roads included in the course are Arabial street, Camino de Ronda, Avenida de Pulianas, and the Murcia road. The urban section will feature iconic spots such as Chapiz hill or Gomérez hill, Acera del Darro, and Paseo del Violón. The finish line will be located on the esplanade of the Palacio de Congresos.
To facilitate participation, the organization, in collaboration with ALSA, will offer free urban transport to runners who show their bib between 5:30 PM and 12:00 AM on race day. Additionally, athletes can reserve parking spaces in official Telpark car parks via the event's website.
The day will be marked by an unstable weather pattern. Following a Friday with rainfall, Saturday is expected to continue with persistent rain for much of the day. Temperatures will remain stable, without significant changes.
